Miriam Goldstein is a theatre director, producer, actor and writer. Miriam is a founding member of The Shoe Beer Collective, formed in 2020, and she is the founding Artistic Director of The Edge Productions, formed in 2010, where she has produced and directed 9 seasons of work for the company. She started working in this industry as a child and has accumulated a varied body of theatrical work. Miriam has worked as a performer in Canada, the US and the UK.
Her work as a director and producer focuses on underrepresented or difficult-to-discuss human experiences and giving voice to the complexities and dualities of life. Her work tends towards emotional realism in any genre. She frequently focuses on deconstructing gender in performance and the construct of theatre itself, putting women in roles that have historically been barred from them, exploring how the specification or erasure of gender can influence our storytelling.
Miriam currently resides in Ontario. She accepts private acting students, teaches groups and serves as production acting coach on a contract basis.
